This adapter worked just fine at first, but after a couple months of use it stopped working. Now I have to hang the adapter a certain way so the wire is in the correct position for the little green l... It works fine as a charger, but it interferes with the TV reception. Apparently the cord is not shielded. That's my only issue.... I am happy with the charger for my HP/Compaq. The only problem is that it doesn't fit really snug into the computer so it falls out if I'm not careful....but it gets the job done!... I purchased a replacement cord that was not the original HP and it became hot after several minutes of use. I returned that cord for this one and it works fine.... This original charger is the right one to get. There are a lot of "cheap off-shore" replacement chargers that don't last very long (3 day average, from my experiance).... Tried 2 other power supply and they got too hot and would turn themselves off,but this one is made by hp will charge my laptop and not get that hot. This is the best and I wish I would have bough this ... It came earlier than I expected! I pulled it in and I saw the orange light on and cheered...it works great! (Knock on wood)... I just wished I would of brought this sooner. Works better than the last one I had, so now I know how it is suppose to work. My laptop didn't come with the original one....
